FAQs
Beginning counseling is a deeply personal and courageous step. Not only is it a personal investment in time and energy, we also understand the financial investment. The information below is intended to help answer questions and offer clarity about what to expect, so you can make an informed and comfortable decision as you move forward.
Do you accept Insurance?
At Insightful Mind Counseling Services, we are a private pay practice and do not bill insurance companies directly for mental health services. We’ve chosen this model so we can prioritize your privacy, offer more flexibility, and focus on care that is truly centered on you. When insurance is involved, a mental health diagnosis is typically required and becomes part of your permanent medical record, which in some cases can affect things like employment, security clearances, or certain professional opportunities. Insurance companies may also request access to detailed information about your treatment, including personal material you share in session.

By not billing insurance directly, we are able to reduce these requirements and create a space that feels more private, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs and goals. At the same time, you may still be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement through your insurance plan. A third-party service called Mentaya may be able to help you explore your out-of-network benefits and simplify the reimbursement process. You can also request a superbill from us, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
How do I get scheduled?
To get scheduled, I like to begin with a brief, no cost 15‑minute phone consultation. This gives us a chance to answer any initial questions you may have and to make sure we feel like a good fit for working together. If it seems like a helpful match, we’ll then compare schedules and find a time that works for your first counseling session. If our schedules do not align or it seems like we are not a good fit, I will provide you with counseling referrals to support you in finding the right counselor for you.

Do you offer virtual sessions?
I offer virtual counseling sessions for clients located in both Florida and Texas. These sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA‑compliant, encrypted platform to help protect your privacy and confidentiality while we meet online. If you are located in the Central Florida area, some clients prefer to have the flexibility to meet in person and virtually, depending on schedules and needs.
How long are sessions and how often would we meet?
Session length and frequency are tailored to your needs, but there are some typical patterns that many clients find helpful. Individual counseling sessions are usually 50 minutes, while couples, relationship, and family sessions are often 75 minutes to allow enough time for everyone’s voice and concerns to be included. Some individual clients also prefer 75-minute sessions, especially when we are engaging in EMDR work and want more space and time for processing.

I generally recommend starting with weekly sessions to help build momentum and a strong therapeutic foundation, then shifting to biweekly as things feel more stable and aligned with your goals. However, this is dependent upon your unique needs, and we’ll always consider your presenting concerns, counseling goals, and schedule flexibility together so that the pacing feels supportive rather than overwhelming.
